Statistics show that the state of Arizona has higher levels of both alcohol and illicit drug abuse than the rest of the nation. The drug and alcohol abuse problem resulted in over 18,000 state residents seeking addiction treatment services in 2010 alone. Among these people, 60.8% were male while the remaining 39.2% were female. Unfortunately, the number of individuals in Arizona struggling with substance abuse has not improved significantly in recent years.
