The substance abuse crisis afflicting the United States has also reached Delaware. Even though the state is the second smallest in the country, the substance abuse epidemic is comparable to that of larger states. In fact, in 2015 the state was designated as part of the national High Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA). Many Delaware residents struggle with opioids, alcohol, cocaine, and other drugs.
