  3. The use of methamphetamines in Maine has been rising significantly in the past five years. This meth comes from cartels who smuggle it into Maine through the southern border. According to the DEA, the amount of seized methamphetamine went up by 2700% from 2017 to 2018.
  4. Between 2011 and 2014, cocaine-related overdoses increased by 85%. While the use of it has been declining in recent years, there are still more than 500 Maine teenagers abusing cocaine.
  5. Marijuana abuse among minors has become so common in Maine that the largest group seeking treatment are between the ages of 12 and 17 years.
