- In 2016 alone, there were more than 140 meth-related deaths in Oregon. This is three times higher than the number of meth-related deaths throughout the state in 2012. Meth-related seizures in Oregon have increased by more than 800% from 2010 to 2018–and continue to increase.
- In 2014, the government legalized the recreational use of marijuana in Oregon. Those under the age of 21 are still prohibited from using the drug, but the legalization has made the drug more accessible than ever before. Even before the legalization, Oregon had the 2nd highest rate of marijuana use in the country.
- Every year, more than 12,000 Oregonians try heroin for the first time. This has caused heroin to be the second-leading cause of overdoses in the state at 16%. Heroin seizures have also been increasing steadily for years, with an increase of more than 900% since 2007.
